Sometimes in the background while I am writing, or when I am taking a quick break, I will have The Graham Norton Show clips playing in the background. Today while I was buried in my laptop, typing away, I heard The Rock during a clip say the word high quality replica Rolex, and like a dog hearing the word ‘park’ or ‘snack’ I immediately looked up. After rewinding a tad for context, I listened to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, WWE and Hollywood icon, tell a story from early in his film career that got the watch enthusiast and collector in me wondering… The story goes that The Rock likes to do his own stunts whenever possible. In his first film, The Scorpion King, during an extensive action sequence he was tasked with “punching” another character. As a WWE superstar The Rock has had ample experience feigning punches to make them look real, so to sell a punch is nothing new to him and on paper would be a straightforward and easy task.
But accidents happen, and as The Rock explains it, during the filming of the punch he ended up accidentally connecting with the stuntman’s face for real – the stuntman talking a full on strike from the very big and strong wrestler. Of course Johnson felt horrible, but the gentle giant that he is took his apology to the next level by actually going out and buying the gentlemen he hit a Swiss movement copy Rolex watch as a gesture. Supposedly the stuntman was on the older side, and so for the man to take a true punch from Johnson instead of a Hollywood punch definitely stung – as it would for any person really. It is unclear what high quality replica Rolex he purchased for the stuntman, but after The Rock finished his story, host Graham Norton asked him if stuntmen in the industry got any ideas from the incident – throwing themselves into the line of fire of his fist in the hopes of a free Rolex from The Rock. The Rock joked the story did get picked up by the press, and after the news broke he noticed stuntmen leaning in closer. But The Rock would then ask Graham if it would be worth getting into a fight with him at the prospect of a watch, to which Graham would reply “No, no, I can tell the time right now”. With Rolex so unobtanium today I pose the question to you: would you take a punch from The Rock for a free Rolex? I would really love a best quality replica Rolex Pepsi GMT Master II on a Jubilee, but I would also have to be alive to wear it. As The Rock jokes in a perfect #dadjoke finale, you could either die from the contact of the punch, and if he happened to miss you would possibly die from the gale of wind created by his fist soaring by – catching pneumonia in the process. Boom boom.
The copy Rolex Explorer I and Explorer II updates received much of the attention, along with new unique dials for the Daytona and Datejust. Look at the “love-it-or-hate-it” leafy green Datejust dial! Opinion has been somewhat divided among the team, but I think it’s a pretty cool summer watch. However, we noticed a few additions to the configurator that went slightly under the radar. Rob noted the blue fluted dial in his article for the new unique dials for the Datejust. That tasty new addition wasn’t shown on the keynote presentation, despite possibly being one of the best unique dials ( jazzy palm dial aside!). There were also new jubilee bracelets for the SkyDweller, which are arguably the more logical choice for the clone Rolex’s dressier sports watch.
Batman Returns Of all the minor updates that Rolex chose not to sing about in its keynote presentation, I found the updates to the GMT Master II the most interesting. The Batman is officially back. The configurator now offers the black and blue bezel fake Rolex GMT-Master II with an option of the Oyster bracelet. Additionally, the Cerachrom bezel Pepsi is also available on an Oyster bracelet for the first time.
It was only 2 years ago, in 2019, that the 126710BLNR “Batgirl” made its debut to replace the outgoing 116710BLNR “Batman”. While most of the specs remained the same, the new 126710BLNR was fitted with the five-link Jubilee bracelet instead of the three-link Oyster bracelet. That marked the end of the Rolex’s stainless-steel GMT Master IIs on Oyster bracelets. The Pepsi bezel 126710BLRO from 2018 was also only available on a Jubilee. Half-hearted outrage ensued at the type 69200 bracelet. That was basically the only option for those watches, as the old Oyster bracelets did not fit the new cases.
The Rolex Oyster bracelet lives! Two years on from this Oyster extinction, The high quality copy Rolex has backpedaled and made both the Cerachrom-bezel Batman and Pepsi available on Oyster bracelets. Rejoice! I always felt that the rugged looks of the GMT-Master II were better complemented by the Oyster bracelet. The Jubilee was always best suited to the dressier pieces in Rolex’s catalog, in my opinion. Can you imagine if the venerable Submariner was suddenly only available on a Jubilee? There would be scenes! A quiet release from Rolex Either way, this is an intelligent move from Rolex. I’m just a little surprised the brand didn’t make more of a song and dance about it. The Swiss movement fake Rolex GMT-Master II costs €8,800 on the Oyster bracelet or €9,000 on Jubilee…if you can get hold of one!
What do you think of the update? Do you prefer the GMT-Master II on the Oyster, or were you a fan of the Jubilee? Let me know in the comments!
